Job Description
Ridgecrest Regional Hospital (RRH), an AMA Joy in Medicine recognized organization,
is seeking a dedicated and compassionate physician to join our team as
a part-time Medical Director of Well-Being (0.25 FTE) and a full-time
Primary Care Physician (0.75 FTE), preferably with a focus in addiction
medicine. This role is ideal for a physician who is passionate about improving
the well-being of healthcare professionals while providing exceptional
patient care. The position is designed to help foster an environment of
physician well-being and offer comprehensive care to our community in
an outpatient setting. Continuation of the AMA Joy in Medicine certification
would be part of the responsibilities of this role. Ridgecrest Regional

Medical Director of Well-Being (0.25 FTE)
- Chair the RRH Physician Well-Being Committee, reporting directly to the
CEO or designee.
- Identify institutional, departmental, and individual factors contributing
to professional burnout, and make mitigation recommendations.
- Collaborate with well-being champions from each department to develop and
implement initiatives aimed at enhancing physician well-being.
- Form and lead an inter-department well-being taskforce with regular meetings
to improve provider resilience.
- Use validated instruments to conduct annual surveys assessing burnout and
well-being among providers, and share results and progress at administrative meetings.
- Recommend specific, measurable initiatives for implementation to enhance
well-being at RRH.
- Establish support policies for individuals experiencing burnout and oversee
their progress.
- Position RRH as a model of well-being and work-life balance, and continue
re-application for the AMA Joy in Medicine award every 2 years.

Address performance and behavioral issues among physicians and recommend
remedial actions.
Patient Care & Treatment (0.75 FTE)
- Provide excellent and comprehensive patient care. Develop and communicate
effective treatment plans with patients and their caregivers.
- Conduct thorough medical examinations and maintain detailed patient records.
- Preferable/Optional: addiction medicine to support patients in overcoming
substance use disorders.
- Update patient information and medical records with the latest findings
and treatments in the hospital's electronic medical records.
- Management of services in accordance with established Clinic’s policies/procedures
- Order tests for healthcare staff to administer.
- Review and interpret test results.
- Reasonable patient load
Collaborative Teamwork
- Work alongside a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
- You’ll work with an assistant, and scribe service (or Ai scribe)
to better manage your administrative workload.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to a supportive and collaborative work environment.
Qualifications
- Leadership certification preferable, example programs include the AAFP
Leading Physician Well-Being Program, Stanford Medical Director of Well-Being
Certification, or equivalent. If non-certified, candidate has to be open
to achieving this certification within the first year of starting this

- Excellent Bedside Manners
- M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited institution.
- An active CA Medical License is required to start. Assistance is available
for licensing.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
- Residents are welcome to apply if they are completing their US residency
this year, as well as the board certification.
