Andrew J. Modic, MD

About

Dr. Andrew Modic is a dedicated physician board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. He began his journey at Ridgecrest Regional Hospital in 2018 through the National Health Service Corps program. He left for two years to serve on the Pine Ridge Reservation with the Indian Health Service, one of the most under-resourced communities in the United States. Dr. Modic returned to Ridgecrest in 2023, drawn back by his strong connection to the patients and community. He currently holds the positions of Chair of Inpatient Medicine and Medical Director of Continuing Medical Education at RRH.

Dr. Modic’s commitment to medicine has been recognized with several honors, including the IHS Director’s Award for Pandemic Heroism in 2021 and the Les Sockwell Humanitarian Award in 2018. He was also a Co-Chief Resident at the University of South Alabama’s Internal Medicine-Pediatric Residency program in 2017. He earned his MD from the University of Connecticut in 2014 and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia with High Distinction. 

Outside of work, Dr. Modic enjoys reading, woodworking, and spending time with his 15-year-old rescue Chihuahua, Poncho. He is proud to provide care to patients of all ages in Ridgecrest.
