About

Dr. Prashanth Kumar, MD, MPH is a dedicated physician specializing in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at Ridgecrest Regional Hospital. Driven by a passion for preventing kidney disease and enhancing the quality of life for individuals with chronic and end-stage kidney disease, Dr. Kumar first earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Michigan in 1997. He went on to obtain his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine (1999-2003), then completed both his Internal Medicine residency and Nephrology fellowship at University Hospitals of Cleveland (2003-2008).​

In 2024, Dr. Kumar returned to the University of Michigan School of Public Health to earn his Master of Public Health in Population Health, focusing on Health Behavior and Health Education. He is currently serving as Chief of Staff at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Apple Valley and contributed to the Network 18 Medical Advisory Board for Home Dialysis. Outside his clinical work, Dr. Kumar enjoys gardening, keeping tropical fish, and playing tennis. He is currently accepting new patients.
