At Ridgecrest Regional Hospital, our Swing Bed Program provides short-term rehabilitative or extended medical treatment for patients who need additional skilled care after a hospital stay. Our goal is to help you regain your normal activity level and transition back home as soon as possible.

What We Do
Ridgecrest Regional Hospital’s Swing Bed Program offers short-term rehabilitative services or extended medical treatment to those who qualify. To be eligible, you must:
- Have Medicare Part A (supplemental policies do not cover Swing Bed)
- Have completed a 3-day qualifying hospital stay as an inpatient
- Require short-term rehab or extended medical treatment (e.g., following joint surgery, debilitation from illness, or long-term IV antibiotics)
- Need continued skilled care for 30 days or less
A Day in the Swing Bed Program
- You will be assigned a bed on the medical-surgical floor.
- Plan to get up for breakfast and get dressed each morning.
- Nurses and therapists will share your therapy and treatment plan.
- Meals may be enjoyed in your room (sitting in a chair) or in the dining area.
- Activities staff and Nursing Assistants will offer planned diversional activities.
- We strive to make your time in Swing Bed feel as close to home as possible.
